about
Songwriter and Musician Eoin Jordan releases his first single 'Shadow from The Past'.
Eoin Jordan has been a steadfast presence in folk and Irish traditional music circles for many years, particularly in his native Co Cork. Best known for his prowess on bouzouki amongst other instruments, 2021 sees his first recorded release as a solo artist. As a member of progressive ensembles such as Ceili Allstars and, most recently, The Diviners, Eoin's historical understanding and deep appreciation of traditional and folk music's forms - its roots as well as its many, continually extending branches - has always kept him on an unwavered path of authenticity and integrity in his musical adventures.
This has always encouraged him to seek and explore new sounds and stories to mine and deliver in the folk vernacular; sea shanties, Child ballads, work songs, murder ballads and more, spanning continents. These endeavours have all been part of Eoin's ability to transport a listener to the time and place of a story, told through words and melody.
Long established also as a sideman to singer-songwriters such as David Hope and John Leo Carter and as a skilled multi-instrumentalist, it was only ever a matter of time for the natural progression of Eoin's musical life to evolve to that of a solo artist and songwriter.
Working with esteemed producer Declan Sinnott, 'Shadow From the Past' tells the poignant tale of a man reflecting on his own life and taking hold of his own story: coming to terms with a scarred childhood and acknowledging the obstacles and trials that inevitably follow throughout adulthood and beyond as a result.
Eoin's strengths in navigating varied and musical waters precede his ability now to tell his own story of navigating the ups and downs of life in his own songs.
